It has always baffled me why change is such an enemy for most of us. Could we be that content with our current situations that we don’t even want to see change? Even so, if you are content then, are we saying you are done with life? Have you exhausted all there is with life? Having worked in corporate for quite some time, I have come to realize the importance of change. It is said that elderly people are prone to change, they treat change as an enemy. On the other hand we have people that scream “You have to embrace it!!!” But how and why must I embrace something that is going to make me uncomfortable? Better yet, why does everyone want to be comfortable? Okay I’m getting carried away, focus! So why should I embrace change?
- Because I could be left behind
The truth of the matter is that change is inevitable, whether you embrace it or not, it will happen. Your choice is whether to move with the times or get left behind.
- Because change is not an enemy, it s my vehicle.
How we look at things matters a lot. If you look at change as a hindrance or as an enemy, it will do just that… become your worst enemy. Look at change as the vehicle that will carry you to new and interesting destinations instead.
- Because I have the power to jump over hurdles
Change is a hurdle. When you’re in a race (which life is a race of some sort) you have a goal, a destination. A hurdle is something that you need to get over in order to get to your destination.
- Because change brings with it new Opportunities
One never knows what each change may bring. When you turn from your usual path there will be plenty of different opportunities waiting for you. Changes will bring new choices for happiness and fulfillment.
- Because change keeps me living, rather than existing
When you live your life just by going with the wind, you are just existing, but when you go out and embrace change you are living, you are an epitome of what life is about, which is Growing, Experimenting and Learning. Go on, see what possibilities lie out there for you, gone are those days when the sky was the limit, it’s a new era where the sky does not even exist anymore.
